The Everything Shower
Every Sunday I have the longest everything shower known to man. The type of shower that makes you physically have to lie down afterwards. For me, an everything shower just feels so much better on a Sunday, washing off the past week and resetting for the one ahead. I am just so obsessed with them that all I do is watch TikTok videos about what products people recommend and what their routines look like compared to mine.
So, if you're like me, you'll love this blog post!
Believe it or not, the everything shower starts outside of the shower first. Normally, when it rolls round to Sunday, my hair has seen better days, so I'll put a hair mask in my ends and some glycolic acid in my scalp and let that sit in my hair for a few hours. The Garnier hair food masks are my favourite as they smell incredible and make your hair feel so soft too. The glycolic acid then helps to exfoliate my scalp and helps calm the dermatitis I always get, especially during the colder months. The Lush Roots scalp treatment and the Ameliorate Deep Cleansing Hair and Scalp mask are both great products too. I love using masks to slick my hair back before washing it, plus they feel so much better than using hairspray or gel.
Once I'm ready, I'll light a few candles and the first thing I do is wash my hair. I use the scalp scrub by The Hair Boss with a scalp exfoliating brush. This scalp scrub is really great as it's so easy to wash the product out of your hair. I’ve found in the past that scalp scrubs can get easily tangled in your roots, and this doesn't. For shampoo, I use two- one for my scalp and one for the shine, volume etc. I love Head and Shoulder's shampoo, I recently tried their new Bare shampoo as it's meant to have minimal ingredients and made of 46% less plastic, but I finished the whole bottle and I probably would repurchase. Other scalp soothing shampoos I would use would be the Neutrogena T-Gel shampoo and Nizoral shampoo which are both soothing for the scalp. On to the more exciting products, I do love the lush shampoos, they smell incredible and leave your hair feeling so clean. I have also recently tried the Ouai Detox shampoo, and I love it. I would love to try more of their products.
In terms of conditioner, I am so boring. I am currently using the Garnier Hair Food one, while it smells incredible and leaves my hair so soft, I'm just not 100% satisfied- definitely leave a comment below if there are any you recommend.
Typically during an everything shower, I will be scrubbing my tan off and I have used every product under the sun until I found my favourites. I do love the Rose and Caramel 60 second tan remover, but it's definitely better to use whenever you have a more stubborn tan on. My favourite exfoliator is the Bellamianta Glycolic Scrub, it leaves you SO smooth it's just amazing. I also love the exfoliating gloves from Superdrug, sometimes I don't even need to use the scrub because the gloves are that good. I also love the B Bold exfoliating glove, but I prefer having two gloves instead of one. Straight after, I like to shave. I love a reusable razor, I have tried the Estrid one and I'm currently using the Sunny razor, but I feel like I'm not obsessed with them. I don't know if it's because I use conditioner to shave with or because I shave all the time, but I feel like they're never sharp enough for me. Is this a problem everyone has? Maybe I should just consider getting waxed, who knows!
For body wash, I'm not particularly picky, I just like whatever smells good. I do use an anti-bacterial soap first and then a nice smelling one. I'm obsessed with the Lush Snow Fairy of course and I recently tried the Ouai St Bart's body cleanser, and it is the nicest thing I have smelled in my life. I'm half tempted to buy the bottle. I'm obsessed with Mega Hughes on TikTok, and immediately bought the L'Occitane shower oil and it is so moisturising. Perfect for during the winter when your skin is fighting for its life, although not 100% sure on the smell, but worth it for the baby soft skin.
At this point, I know what you're thinking surely it stops there, but you would be wrong. The everything shower exists after the showering too because it's time for moisturising and skin care! I'm so basic with my moisturiser, I just want to have smooth legs. I don't use anything other than the Vaseline Cocoa Radiant lotion or the Palmer's Cocoa Butter. I do just want to smell like chocolate, but I also wish I had a fun lotion that smelled gorgeous to use on top of the moisturiser. To keep my tan lasting longer and for the summer time, I just love the Garnier Summer Body lotion, it makes your tan even tanner- the dream.
Now, for skincare. Night time is when my skin is so glowy that you could see it from the moon because I am so shiny from the amount of moisturiser I have on. I wash my face with the Cerave Salicylic Acid cleanser, so good for spot prone skin. Then, depending on how dry my skin feels, I'll either use hyaluronic acid or rose hip oil from the Inkey List, and I'll seal it all in with the Weleda Skin Food.
I'll leave all the moisturiser to soak into my skin before putting my tan on, which will feature in the next blog post, so stay tuned!
Much love x
